I have to laugh. Florence really has no idea what she is in for, does she? I know I keep saying that, but she doesn’t have a clue. Lord Hunter-Fox (aka Robert) is obviously not a man to be trifled with and she isn’t picking up on that. She didn’t even try to be nice, even after they had such a pleasant night. So anyway, I know exactly what his lordship has in mind for her in his office and I am not sure she is going to like it. LOL

And Mary certainly didn’t leave quietly now did she? I keep wondering if she’s Mary Kelly, but then I think, Mary Kelly was middle-aged, so now I am not so sure. Is she going to cause problems?

Alex seems so cold. You have shown that to us so subtlety too. Great characterization!

Now you have me worried about Jessie and her Archduke. To think that Jessie is not allowed out of her contract makes me nervous. Eeeek! I hope she is not in trouble?

Anyway, this was another excellent chapter! I am always so happy when you update!

Aw Tilly really cared for Molly didn't she. I think that's rather bittersweet.

I am almost of the opinion though that Molly should blackmail Sir Rupert. He's such a cad, he deserves it. He would have the money to pay too, because of Lord Hunter-Fox. I just don’t see Molly as a flower girl.

Anyway, thanks for giving us a snippet

Short but effective and it certainly pushes your narrative forward. Molly has made a decision and will now have to put her money where her mouth is, so to speak. And suddenly Tilly isn't as bad a person in my mind. She was too forceful but she simply couldn't leave her heart out of her business. This has made her a little more human in my eyes.

I worry about Molly now. What will happen to her in the end? (Don't tell me! I want to read it when you get to it...I like surprises, really, I do!)

At least Tilly actually has feelings for Molly and was not only taking advantage of the situation of their sharing the bed.

Chapter 21
A surprisingly tender moment from Lord Hunter-Fox. And now that Florence "belongs" to him, you release Alex so that he might tempt her away...

I simply adore the amount of care you put into your writing. It is enthralling and engaging. There is also a real sense of story, events that are seemingly unrelated feel as if they are merely awaiting their moment to shine. There are many threads...that's it! (Sorry...thinking as I write here...) There are several threads to follow and you have been picking them up and weaving them together masterfully.

YAY ! They're wedded and bedded. I suspect she's going to have a shock. He'll take no messing from her now.

This was perfect Shez. You always manage to hit the right note. I was giggling that Florence would pretend to be asleep. She is the perfect naïve silly girl.

Lord Hunter-Fox was so in control too. He really is maddeningly suave. He has a great deal of patience too, but I see he won’t put up with any nonsense. I have travelled much in the Indies and the lands of Araby, and while there, learned a great deal of the skills required for pleasuring a woman – yes, it is a skill, like surgery or horse-breaking…”

“Horse-breaking!” exclaimed Florence. “Do you have a romantic bone in your body, Lord Hunter-Fox?”

Now that just made me laugh. So Florence doesn’t see herself as a young filly does she? But I thought the analogy was perfect.

Anyway, thanks so much for writing the wedding night. You did a beautiful job. Your writing always makes my toes curl. I do believe Florence enjoyed it too. LOL!

Wow, Florence was certainly ignorant. I suppose it was what happened in those times. Young ladies were not provided with that kind of information. I think her Lord was very patient, and yet firm with her.

Gah! Noooooooooo! I understand completely but... *weeps at having to wait*

A lovely chapter as always. :)

The one thing that struck me was the detail of paintings missing from the walls. Were they really images of the previous wife or were they more salacious in nature? *crosses her fingers for option 2* In any case, as soon as I read that and for the rest of the chapter, the only thing that was floating in my brain was a poem by Robert Browning. (You can read the whole thing here: http://rpo.library.utoronto.ca/poem/288.html) but the first few lines will likely ring enough of a bell.

"That's my last Duchess painted on the wall,/Looking as if she were alive. [...]"

No apology needed hon....It's good to have this moment to see Florence feeling the unusual pull of introspection......

Aw Shez, I wish I could write this well when I was in a hurry. LOL
All your rich details are wonderful!

I am happy to see that Molly has some extra money. I feel like her life is so precarious now. I think she should be saving her money though, as much as she can. She is obviously shocked about Florence and Lord Hunter-Fox.

Poor Florence. I actually feel a bit sorry for her. I mean, not because she is going to have mind-blowing sex with Lord Hunter-Fox, but because she is so in the dark. I can’t imagine her mother not telling her about what happens on a wedding night. Her mother is quite useless isn’t she? I’m surprised she didn’t give Florence the standard Queen Victoria answer, “Close your eyes and think of England.” LOL
Somehow though, I don’t think Queen Victoria followed her own advice. She had too many children. LOL

Anyway you have built up the suspense horribly. I can’t wait for the next chapter. What a cliffy! You must update soon! lol

Great reunion between Vyvyan and Jessie. He is such a loving man. Poor Molly. Now she is a prostitute and friends with a frisky, possibly bisexual woman.

Author's Response: Molly just staggers from rock to hard place. Hopefully somebody will help her out somewhere along the line.

Ah, Vyvyan is such a good fellow. Jess is looking more callous all the time. I see Sickert is sending Mary to London--to her doom considering the times. Very interesting, Shez.
