Aw Shez, I just cringe when I think of Mary. You’ve made her a bit dislikable though, which probably makes her fate a little bit more bearable. I felt sorry for poor old Joe, pining away for Mary. I know he probably drinks too much, but I hated to see him so down. I was struck with how you can make me feel for a character who has barely made an appearance. You definitely have a gift.
So Tilly is Florence’s new maid. LOL
Now that’s a twist. It makes me laugh too. Florence very much disagreed with this analysis, but unless she wanted Tilly’s first duty in her household to be the application of soothing cream to her mistress’ sore strapped bottom, she would have to put up with it. LOL
Yes I suppose Florence will have to be nice to her. :D
Lord Hunter-Fox is so strict! I love it! LOL

Yay! All caught up and now more than a little creeped out by what might happen next to Mary and to Molly.
I loved the back and forth between Flo and Hunter-Fox (pun intended!) and that overgrown garden is tantalizing. It puts me in mind of Blue Beard stories...what will florence discover beyond the gate? Will she learn more about the previous wife? Will she ever admit the lust that takes over her when she gets spanked?

Yes you’re right, this chapter is menacing.
I am so worried about Jessie. I don’t think her military friend is going to give up. I also worry about Tilly. Will Tilly really help Jessie out? She sounds jealous.
I know now, for sure, that Mary is of course, Mary Kelly, which scares the hell out of me and gives me the shivers. For some reason I thought Mary was middle aged, so I looked her up, and as I am sure you already knew, she was only twenty-five. OMG! That is so young! You are bringing the Ripper murder victims so vividly to life, it’s making me cringe. You are such a powerful writer Shez. The only thing that makes me feel better is that you said all your three heroines would have happy endings, so I know that Molly will be alright. You are scaring me!
It’s a good scare though. LOL

I am so sorry. I forgot to leave you a review yesterday when I read this. I blame it on cookie overload.
Anyway I am so excited to get another chapter. It seems like it has been forever since I last read this, so it really made my day. Squee!
So now we get to find out more on the life of Florence and her new hubby, Lord Hunter-Fox! I am very curious about the secret garden and why his Lordship is being so evasive.
And I am very curious about Agnes. It’s funny but Florence has been so caught up in her own world that this is like the first time she has really considered her husband. He was married before and he was once in love before. Now she realizes she knows very little about him. It’s very intriguing.
Anyway I will be looking forward to the next chapter! Yay! And thanks again for updating.

Well it certainly looks like Lord Hunter-Fox won’t put up with any back sass.
Of course I didn’t expect him too. It’s a shame she has to take that bumpy carriage ride when her bum was so tender. LOL
I don’t blame Florence for being peeved though about being told what she can and cannot read. That would be so stultifying.
It was nice though, to see Lord Hunter-Fox apologize. It makes him a little less rigid. I can see that meant a lot to Florence too. I am glad to see things getting warm and cozy for them. I get the feeling though, that Florence will be bending over his desk sometime soon in the future. :D

Eeeek! I am worried about Jessie’s Teutonic benefactor. I don’t think he is going to let her go. It seems Vyvyan suspects this too. I am hoping Vyvyan becomes a success.
You had me cringing a little with the paints. I wanted Vyvyan to take a bath right away after Jessie painted him. I mean, while Vermilion isn’t anywhere near as toxic as Cadmium red, it still worries me. They say that when paint is in liquid form, its cells are too big to penetrate the skin, yet when it dries and becomes a powder it can be inhaled. Of course I am just a worry-wart, so ignore me. LOL
Poor Molly. I feel like she is so down on her luck. I could almost hear her singing, “Who will buy my sweet red roses? Two blooms for a penny.” :D She certainly isn’t mixing with the best company now if she is hanging out with Mary. I feel like poor Molly is being used. So is Molly now going to become a thief like Moll Flanders?
Anyway, lovely chapter my dear! I just love my little weekly excursions into the Victorian age! :D
