Just a little correction. I've got my M.A. in Literature with a focus on Middle English Literature, think Chaucer. Old English was spoken between the 5th and 7th century, while Middle english was spoken during the Middle ages (until about 1450 A.D.). Shakespeare wrote in Early Modern English. During the Early Modern and even up into the modern era, many scholars wrote in Latin. You could argue for a divergance in culture and suggest that most of the Professors were not familiar with the works of Shakespeare or the metaphors and dialects of Muggles and so might not find his works unacceptable.
